GROWTH

Hey Operators! 👋

Somewhere right now, an aspiring newsletter publisher is refreshing their Facebook analytics for the 37th time.

Three likes.

One comment.

one direction love GIF

And a suspicious-looking friend request from someone claiming to be a cryptocurrency princess.

Things are looking up.

Meanwhile, there's a coffee shop down the street with hundreds of local customers walking through its doors every week.

See the opportunity?

Other local businesses already have relationships with the exact people you're trying to reach.

And you don't need to steal their customers.

You need to find ways to create value for them.

Here's a ridiculously simple idea:

Create a small countertop flyer with a QR code linking to your newsletter signup page.

Your headline?

"Love What's Happening Around Town? Get the Local Scoop."

Then approach three local businesses and offer to feature them, promote an upcoming event, or collaborate on something useful for their customers.

Ask whether they'd be willing to display the flyer.

No expensive advertising campaign.

No 17-step funnel.

And definitely no interpretive TikTok dance.

Just a relevant offer and a local partnership.

Will every business say yes?

❌ Nope.

Will every customer subscribe?

❌ Also nope.

But each genuine partnership gives your newsletter another opportunity to be discovered by people in the community.

The takeaway? Stop thinking exclusively about finding subscribers online.

Sometimes your next subscriber is standing in line waiting for a cappuccino.

And probably overpaying for oat milk.
