BUILD
Hey Operators! 👋
Eventually every local newsletter operator has the same realization:
"Holy crap. I have to find MORE stuff for tomorrow?"
Welcome to publishing. 🤣
At first, you do everything yourself.
You search Facebook…
Check township websites…
Scroll school calendars…
Dig through community groups…
Investigate a blurry flyer somebody posted sideways…
And somewhere around 11:47 PM you're trying to determine whether the Rotary Club pancake breakfast is Saturday the 14th...
Or whether someone simply uploaded a flyer from 2019.
There's a better way…
Build sources instead of constantly searching for content.
Local organizations already WANT people to know what's happening.
Fire companies.
Schools.
Libraries.
Churches.
Nonprofits.
Restaurants.
Municipalities.
Sports organizations.
Event venues.
The trick is making it ridiculously easy for them to send information to you.
Create a simple submission form.
Then start teaching your community:
"Got something happening locally? Send it to us."
Over time, something beautiful happens.
Instead of hunting for every story...
Stories start finding you!!
And that makes your publication easier to operate while strengthening your position as a community information hub.
Your next move:
✅ Create one simple submission page and personally send it to 10 organizations in your community.
✅ Tell them you're actively looking for events, announcements, openings, fundraisers, and community news.
✅ Then keep the link somewhere obvious.
Because the goal isn't to become the world's greatest Facebook detective.

It's to build a system where the town helps keep you informed.

P.S. P.S. Bonus points if your submission form prevents someone from sending you a 9-megabyte PDF named FINAL-FINAL-REVISED-FINAL2.pdf. 🤣🤣🤣
